Kurt Bell

A life of courage, joy and independence.

What would you do if it were announced today that science had figured out how to switch off our biological death clock? Would you elect to accept whatever treatment facilitated this change? And if so, how would you alter your life? I’d welcome the change, sell my motorcycle and then work hard to help our species begin colonization of the other worlds and moons in our solar system. And of course I’d be first in line to get off this planet in order to make room for the new people being born.

I wonder how we’ll live…
When disease and old age are defeated
And our best chance to die
Arrives against the odds
How will we live then?
Guarded and tamed?
Hidden from danger
Recluse from threat
Suckling safe sustenance
Like a frightened babe
Will we mark time like a miser?
Weighing the further odds
Against another day’s passing
And will we forget to live?
And neglect careless pleasure
Our hedged certainty of tomorrow
An immortal cage

Meeting the same thoughts my heroes knew a hundred or a thousand years prior, is like encountering an immortal sage, whose truth carries on despite time, culture or the consequence of death. A few moments with me before I pass and the consideration moves on to the next generation.
