A life of courage, joy and independence.

Planning for Emily’s college

I’ve discovered an almost boyish delight in helping my daughter plan for college. Though in a way, the experience is like assisting someone prepare their own surprise party – as too much help or meddling might spoil the delight of the surprise. Besides, details like where to go and what to study are secondary to the far more important task of locating professors, peers and circumstance which can help Emily to deconstruct the worldview of adolescence, and then provide her the tools and examples in courage to make something better. These are better found through fortune, and a mind keen to make advantage where it can be found. And though I’ll enjoy going over college brochures together and visiting campuses in the coming year, I suspect my more important role will be to help prime her mind to embrace the coming unknown and unforeseen.

My name is Kurt Bell and I am delighted that you have taken some time to share a little of The Good Life with me. I’m available on social media at the links below and can be reached via email at softypapa@gmail.com
