A life of courage, joy and independence.
My father had an interesting Christmas tradition. He LOVED Christmas but he didn’t like organizing and putting away ornaments. In the last years of his life he’d go to the store and buy boxes of new ornaments plus a beautiful big natural tree. He’d invite the family to help him decorate it up real nice and then load it up with presents during the two week period leading up to Christmas day. It was a beautiful thing… However, on the first trash day after Christmas day he’d unplug the tree and carefully carry the entire thing out to the curb. He had to walk slowly so as to not cause any of the ornaments to fall off. I remember leaving for school and seeing our tree standing proud with all of it’s decorations and even a star on the top by the sidewalk, waiting for the garbage man to come pick it up. The clincher was the extension cord which had dragged behind and was now trailing like a wire snake up the driveway. Yup, Christmas with Grizzly was always a memorable experience. 🙂
