A life of courage, joy and independence.
Here’s a road so off the beaten track it doesn’t even appear on maps. I only discovered the road after blundering into it accidentally while trying to find my way around a hazardous waterfall in a deep gorge on the fringe of the Japan Southern Alps. Having come upon the road in the middle I had no idea where either direction might go and thus it took me two subsequent visits before I could determine that the road led to a dead-end at the entrance to a high-elevation canyon which may have once been a route between mountain villages in the days before modern roads and automobiles. On this trip we drive along the length of the road from where in junctures with another farm road to the very end at the start of the abandoned mountain trail.
