Wooly Adelgid

This insect is the Wooly Adelgid (Adelges tsugae), a true bug of the order Hemiptera and a native to East Asia. This insect feeds on the sap of trees and is a serious pest in parts of the world (such as North America) where it has accidentally been introduced. This insect is also known as the “Hemlock woolly adelgid.”
