A life of courage, joy and independence.

While riding my bicycle home from work this evening I came across this small Shinto shrine all lit up with lights and with no one around. I suspect that the shrine has been readied for an upcoming community festival, though it seemed very unusual for all the lights and decorations to be out and turned on while nobody was there to enjoy it. The only sounds which disturb the peace are the noises of several trains and scooters going by as well as the voices of one lone couple walking past on a nearby road. I often stop at this shrine to eat my lunch under the shade of the sacred trees, and was delighted and surprised to rediscover the place under such curious and intriguing night time circumstances.
