Our family preparing to enjoy eating a popular Japanese stew-like meal called “oden”. Consisting of vegetables, meat and fish items oden is often enjoyed either coated with a thick brown sauce or with spicy mustard. Oden is a very special food in our home and sitting down to enjoy a big pot of this interesting food is always a bit of a party for us. Oden is very popular with the Japanese though it is rarely encountered outside Japan. The little stove you might spot next to my father-in-law is the wood burner used to heat the old fashioned wooden bath.
